In a recent interview, Stan Wawrinka spent beautiful words for Rafael Nadal. Wawrinka told: “It is incredible what Rafael Nadal has managed to do this year and throughout his career. He has nothing more to prove, yet he gives his best every day to win more trophies.

Rafa is in a league of his own. and it will be like this forever.” Speaking at Eurosport Germany, Mischa Zverev analyzed the perspectives of the Spaniard: “Tennis or family? It’s not easy to combine both. The birth of a child changes your life.

A professional is used to devoting most of the day to tennis. You work out for two or three hours in the morning, then it’s time for recovery and fitness. If you have a child, you have to revise your habits. Maybe you have to get up at night to help your wife, which it’s not ideal the day before a game.

We’ll see how Nadal handles this.”

Rafa’s season

2022 gave Rafael Nadal a lot of satisfaction. The Spanish champion won the Australian Open and Roland Garros, despite the pain in his foot having led him to think about retiring several times.

Thanks to the help of Dr Cotorro, the 36-year-old from Manacor managed to find a solution and went to Wimbledon with ambitions for victory. The Iberian reached the semi-final on the grass of Church Road, but a tear in his abs prevented him from taking the field against Nick Kyrgios.

That problem also affected his approach to the US Open, where he left the scene already in the second round at the hands of the home favorite Frances Tiafoe. The 22-time Grand Slam champion then traveled to London to say goodbye to his long-time rival Roger Federer, with whom he played one last double at the Laver Cup.

On Saturday 8 October, Nadal and his wife Xisca gave birth to their first child. Rafa ha also some chances to end the year as new world no.1.
