Serena Williams clears Arthur Ashe of Rafael Nadal dog ahead of practice

Serena Williams scooped her small dog called Christopher Chip Rafael Nadal and put him into a bag to make sure he is safe and doesn’t do anything bad while she is practicing with Maria Sakkari. The US Open official social media team captured the moment and shared it.

Christopher Chip Rafael Nadal is a Yorkshire Terrier brought home by Serena in 2017. Chip has a pretty large social media following.

Serena’s dog is followed by over 13.000 people on Instagram. Serena Williams, the 23-time Major champion, is preparing for her final event in New York. The veteran will compete in her 21st US Open, having decided to retire at her favorite tournament, where she made her debut in 1998 at the age of 16.

Serena won her last Major title at the 2017 Australian Open, defeating her sister Venus in the final before retiring from tennis due to pregnancy. Williams returned in the spring of 2018 and went on to reach four Majors finals in the next 15 months, including Wimbledon and the US Open.

Serena lost them to much younger opponents and missed a chance to add the 24th Major trophy to her tally. Williams has played only nine tournaments since the start of 2021, reaching two semi-finals in Melbourne last year and failing to repeat that in the following events.

Serena Williams is a Rafael Nadal fan

During a Wimbledon press conference, Serena Williams praised Rafael Nadal and pointed out she named her dog after him. “He’s done a lot in 2022. He’s been busy. I’ve always been a Rafa fan.

I named my dog after him. He’s so cute. I miss the little guy. So obviously I’m always rooting for Rafa. So yes, he’s been really inspiring in everything that he’s done this year, and he has a lot more to do,” said Williams.
