PGA Tour players held a meeting at the BMW Championship. Tiger Woods was apparently the leader of that meeting. The meeting lasted three hours, and the golfers are trying to find a solution for LIV Golf and their accusations.
Justin Thomas, one of the participants of the meeting, is happy that a player like Woods is the leader of the meeting and a key figure in everything. “I think if someone like him is passionate about it, no offence to all of us, but that’s really all that matters,” Thomas said, as quoted by edmontonsun.
“If he’s not behind something, then one, it’s probably not a good idea in terms of the betterment of the game, but two, it’s just not going to work. He needs to be behind something. “I think he’s been a great kind of leading role in a lot of ways in the game, for a lot of us”.
Rory McIlroy and Justin Thomas on Tiger Woods
Rory McIlroy was happy after the meeting; “I think the one thing that came out of it, which I think was the purpose, is all the top players on this tour are in agreement and alignment of where we should go going forward, and that was awesome,” McIlroy said.
“I mean, he is the hero that we’ve all looked up to,” said McIlroy. “His voice carries further than anyone else’s in the game of golf. His role is navigating us to a place where we all think we should be.”
Justin Thomas believes that Woods understood the importance of the meeting and that he cares to discuss the new problem! “I think he came because it was very important to him,” said Thomas. “It probably was just not something that he felt was appropriate to do over Zoom or just to call in.
I think it shows how passionate he is about golf and wanting to improve it and paving the way for the next generation of young players to come out down the road”.
