American teen sensation Coco Gauff has stunned US Open fans after firing down the fifth fastest women’s serve of all time during her second-round victory.
Gauff, who recently made the French Open final, has been in good form leading up to the US Open and continued her dominance after knocking out Elena-Gabriela Ruse in straight sets.
The 12th seed has used her strong first serve to blast opponents off the court in 2022 and the 18-year-old American stunned fans at Arthur Ashe Stadium with the fifth fastest serve of all time.
At 3-1 in the first set, Gauff fired down a 128mph (206kmh) serve at Ruse.
Gauff’s feat equals Serena Williams’ fastest-ever serve, which is some achievement considering the 23-time grand slam champion is known for having one of the best serves ever.
The fastest ever serve is 131mph (210kmh), which Gauff will be favoured to eclipse considering she is only 18 years old.
Tennis fans were quick to marvel at Gauff’s feat at the US Open.

Tennis great Kim Clijsters was full of praise for Gauff after the match and said she could be the favourite to win in New York.
“Coco Gauff is my favourite to win the tournament,” she said on Eurosport.
“She also got more into the spotlight, especially here in America. She became very, very well known – First Lady Michelle Obama was tweeting about it.
“Everybody in the country was following this young new talent, Coco Gauff. She’s been gradually working through each tournament, becoming better, and she has the support of her parents – travels with the family.”
The 18-year-old will now face fellow American Maddison Keys in the third round.
Gauff has enjoyed a standout year having reached her maiden grand slam final at Roland Garros.
She also became the No.1 doubles player in the world having won two WTA 1000 titles with her partner Jessica Pegula.
Gauff has avoided the exodus of top seeds in the first two rounds of the US Open.
Naomi Osaka, a former World No. 1, was knocked out in the first round.
Defending champion Emma Raducanu was eliminated by veteran Alize Cornet.
While Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina and seven-time grand slam winner Venus Williams also crashed out in the opening round.
